Construction & Materials
Carrel Desk is built with a laminate, wood-veneer, or solid-wood top on a steel or hardwood base engineered for the load of stacked books, laptops, and constant repositioning across a library floor. Carrel-style single-study units add privacy panels in the same edge-banded, moisture-sealed material as the tabletop, while group study tables reinforce the center support for the wider spans a communal table requires. Edges are sealed against the scuffs and moisture rings daily library use produces. Laminate/MDF top; privacy panels; powder-coated steel frame selection is matched across carrels, group tables, and single tables so a reading room reads as one furniture family.
Specification Notes
Schools and university libraries specify Study Tables around room layout and noise zoning, mixing group tables in collaborative areas with carrels in quiet zones on one coordinated order. DMD builds Carrel Desk to your floor plan and finish standard, and can adjust table footprint to fit stacks-adjacent spaces without re-engineering the whole program. Facilities teams typically reorder individual units as furniture ages rather than replacing a full room at once, so we retain finish records for exact matches. Send your room layout and elevation drawings and we will return configuration options.
